Get your pet ready for winter

Book a free health check or get wellness screening for only £60

As the colder months roll in, it's a good time to check whether your pet is ready for winter. Just like us, pets can struggle with stiff joints, dry skin or other seasonal troubles. Regular check-ups are a simple way to stay on top of your pet’s health as the temperatures drop.

Right now, we’re offering a free health check or, if your dog is over five or cat over seven and has been seen by a practice vet in the past 18 months, wellness screens are available at a discounted price of £60 (standard price £85). These checks can catch hidden issues, give you peace of mind, and help your pet feel their best this winter.

FAQ

  • Wellness screening is recommended for healthy mature cats and dogs and includes a physical exam, a complete clinical history, urine testing, a blood pressure measurement (if advised) and blood testing for all common organ function-related diseases including kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and overactive thyroid (cats only).

  • Wellness screening is suitable for healthy mature cats and dogs. If your pet is showing any signs or symptoms of disease, or any abnormal behaviour, please book a consultation with your vet instead.

    Eligible pets are classed as:

    • Cats over 7 years old
    • Dogs over 5 years old
    • Giant breeds of dog (Great Dane, Mastiff, St. Bernard, etc.) over 3 years
  • We recommend having a wellness screen every year. Six months after your pet’s annual vaccination boosters is an ideal time.
    • Ideally, your pet should fast for 12 hours before their appointment (water is fine).

    • Bring a fresh urine sample in a clean, dry container. If you need help collecting one, just ask your practice.

    • Make sure whoever brings your pet in knows about their habits and daily routine.

If you're not able to do these things, don’t worry — attend the appointment as planned and our team will advise you.

  • You’ll usually receive your results within 10 days. If all is well, you will receive a text or email from your practice team. If there are any abnormal results, the practice team will be in touch to arrange for a vet to discuss the next steps. This may include a recommendation for a change of diet, medication or further investigations.

  • If your pet needs extra care, our team will guide you through the next steps with clear advice and support. When we catch a condition early, it means we can provide the right care quickly, giving your pet the best chance to recover and thrive. The cost of further care is not included in the cost of a wellness screen.
  • A wellness screening costs £85. Pet Health Club members on an Essential plan get a 10% discount, while those on Plus get 20% off. We also run occasional offers. Check our Offers page for the latest deals.
