Nurse wellness screenings

A nose to tail MOT for your pet!

For the things they can’t tell us…

Pets age around seven times faster than humans and as they do, they become more susceptible to a variety of health conditions. Our nurse wellness screening is a comprehensive medical MOT for your cat or dog that can detect health issues and help to give you peace of mind about your pet’s health and wellbeing.

Here's what's included:

A physical exam with a nurse, a complete clinical history, urine testing, a blood pressure measurement and blood testing for all common organ function-related diseases including:

  • Diabetes
  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Overactive thyroid (cats only)

Pre-appointment checklist…

Here's a list of what you need to do before your pet's wellness screening appointment:

  • It is ideal if pets are fasted for 12 hours before their appointment (no food but allowed access to water).
  • A fresh urine sample should be brought to the appointment in a clean, dry container. For advice on collecting urine samples, please contact your practice.
  • The person bringing your pet to the appointment should be familiar with their health status, habits, and routines.

If you are unable to undertake either of the points above, please attend your appointment and the team will advise you further.

You will receive your results within 10 days of the screening. If all is well, you will receive a text or email from your practice team. If there are any abnormal results, the practice team will be in touch to arrange for a vet to discuss the next steps. This may include a recommendation for a change of diet, medication or further investigations.

Is my pet eligible for a nurse wellness screening?

We need to ensure your pet meets certain criteria before booking them in for a wellness screening. Our nurse Wellness Screening is suitable for healthy adult cats and dogs – if your pet is showing any signs or symptoms of disease, or any abnormal behaviour you should have a check up with a vet first.

Adult pets are:

  •  Cats over 7 years old
  • Dogs over 5 years old
  • Giant breeds of dog (Great Dane, Mastiff, St. Bernard, etc.) over 3 years
