Q&A with Samuel Hall

13th December 2018

” Do your research before choosing a pet, see which pet best fits with your life style and budget. “

Name: Samuel Hall

Position: Head of Practice

Location: easipetcare Chatham

What is your favourite animal?

Has to be a Chihuahua – they have so much personality for such a little dog. I am also slightly biased as I actually have 3 myself!

At what age did you decide to work in the animal industry?

I was just shy of 16 when I joined the veterinary industry. I completed 2 weeks work experience at my local vet practice, and was then offered a position as an Animal Nursing Assistant (ANA).

Do you have any pets of your own?

I have 3 Chihuahua’s – Ronald, Ruby & Rio. I used to dabble in keeping marine fish and corals, but that hobby took up far too much of my time, so I decided to park that venture.

What is the funniest or most memorable experience you’ve had with a client?

For me all client experiences are memorable for one reason or another, but the funniest moment would be when one of my patients left a nasty surprise in my tunic pocket!

What is your favourite thing about working for easipetcare?

For me, that would have to be the clients and their pets. There is nothing I enjoy more than providing a service where in which I can see we are making a difference.

If you had a different career what would it be?

This is a tough one for me. I’ve always liked the idea of working with Marine life, so I suppose this would go hand in hand with being a marine biologist. Part of me also likes the idea of being a GP….

What is the best piece of advice you would give to a pet owner or client?

Do your research before choosing a pet, see which pet best fits with your life style and budget. Secondly I would recommend to always take out an affordable pet insurance.

Do you or have you done any additional volunteer work with animals outside of work?

I used to volunteer at my local wildlife sanctuary. I would maintain living quarters, and provide basic level of veterinary care including dressing changes, cleaning wounds, administering prescribed medications etc.

What kind of animal do you think you are most like and why?

I would have to go with a Chameleon as I am able to adapt to my surroundings easily.
