Poor Fred Is Hit With Heat Stroke

8th June 2016

This is Fred an 8 year old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel who was rushed into our Chatham practice having collapsed… A thorough Vet examination showed he had a very high temperature along with neurological symptoms. The Vet’s assessment led him to believe we were dealing with heat stroke.

Fred was placed onto intravenous fluids and ice packs were used to bring his temperature down.

This picture was taken two hours later where you can see he is sitting up and back to his bouncy self 😀

IMPORTANT… Please remember that dogs and cats can be easily affected by hot, muggy days and are just as susceptible to heat stroke as children are.

Make sure they always have access to fresh, cold water and plenty of shade. If you have any concerns we are here to help 🙂
