Tick Advice

5th September 2016

Dear easipetcare friends,

With growing concerns about the increased numbers of ticks found on animals in the UK and a recent report published by the BBC suggesting that 1 in 3 dogs now has ticks, we can reassure you this is certainly not what we have seen within our busy practices! However, ticks are something that all pet owners should be aware of so here are some of our Top Tips to beat those nasty Ticks:

  1. Keep cats and dogs tick free with a Seresto collar which protects them for up to 8 months in one application! We stock these amazing collars in all of our practices but to find out more about their incredible technology, click here.
  2. Use tick repellents on pet accessories as well.
  3. Groom your pets thoroughly, making sure you check inside their ears, around the eyes as well as on their chin and between their pads and toes.  When grooming, brush against, as well as with, the hair growth to see any embedded ticks.

What many people don’t realise is that it’s mainly ticks originating from other European countries that are the dangerous ones, which is why it’s absolutely vital that any pets going abroad need to be protected! And we can’t recommend a Seresto collar more highly.

If you have any concerns at all, come and talk to us in one of our practices about your pet’s tick protection.

Best wishes,
